Friendship Night

For mutual tonight we had a friendship night, found here. We had 11 girls but the odd girl out was willing to let one of leaders interview her. It was a fun night with a good purpose and a chance to remind the young women that they are special.

Integrity Value Project Ideas


·         Host an alternative after-prom party where the environment will be safe and all activities will be in keeping with church standards.

·         Make a faux tile picture of the temple and display it somewhere visible. Write feelings about the temple and a plan for preparing to enter the temple on the back.

·         Plan and lead a campaign to keep Christ in Christmas this year.

·         Make monthly Personal Progress reminders to hand out to every YW for 6 months

·         Make FHE kits to give to families in the ward, 3 months' worth-including recipes, games, lessons

·         Read any book of scripture in 60 days (Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Old or New Testament)

·         Watch or re-watch general conference, all 4 sessions, and the Young Women general session. Then write in your journal how it applies to the value that you are working on and how it affects their life

·         Be in charge of New Beginnings or Young Women in Excellence

·         Be the Young Womens "historian" with a digital camera. Then print out and make a display of all the activities for YWIE. Or you can make a dvd or slide show presentation and have an "awards show" night.

·         Type up old family journals- write in your own journal what you have learned from your ancestors

·         Compile quotes from General Authorities about the young women’s values and make a scrapbook

·         Read a book by a General Authority and write in your journal about how you can live an honest life by following its teachings

·         Keep a scripture journal and write in it every day

·         Participate in a sport or club- write in your journal how being involved in this group helps you in your life and how it will help your future

·         Alter clothing to be more modest

·         Make a book, blog, video, etc. about how personal progress has helped you and blessed your life.

Good Works Value Project Ideas


·         Plan an afternoon of free babysitting at the church for ward members. Advertise the service and circulate sign-up sheets several weeks ahead of time. Prepare one kids' craft or activity for the afternoon.

·         Identify areas of town (parks, playgrounds, roadsides, church grounds) that are littered or dirty. Over several days, pick up trash and beautify the areas.

·         Organize a food or clothing drive and donate the proceeds to a local shelter.

·         Spend 10 hours as a volunteer indexer for people trying to locate their ancestors.

·         Make finger puppets for a children's hospital

·         Learn and become certified in First Aid and CPR and teach it to others

·         Babysit for Relief Society Enrichment night for 5 months, plan activities for the children

·         Compile and distribute a monthly YW Newsletter for 6 months

·         Make and bring Sacrament bread for 6 weeks (must let Priesthood leaders know)

·         Temple work!! Find names and go to the temple to be baptized for them

Choice and Accountability Value Project Ideas


Create a "Sunday Box" filled with ideas of appropriate family activities to do on the Sabbath. Use it each week at home.

Read The Miracle of Forgiveness by Spencer W. Kimball and share impressions of the book with a parent or YW leader.

Go through the closet or personal music library and evaluate items based on the standards listed in For the Strength of Youth. Discard inappropriate items.

Write a YW Sacrament Meeting Program (need permission from the bishop)

Make monthly Personal Progress reminders to hand out to every YW for 6 months

Knowledge Value Project Ideas


Take a high school advanced placement course or a post-secondary college class.

Make a scripture-of-the-day or word-of-the-day calendar. Have it spiral bound at a local office supply store.

Make at least three of the Christmas gifts given away this year using a new skill. Girls could can jars of applesauce, make Christmas ornaments, or create pieces of jewelry.
Needlepoint a pillow case or tablecloth

Learn and become certified in First Aid and CPR and teach it to others

Learn sign language for some songs and sing and sign them in Sacrament Mtg

Train a dog to be obedient and do tricks

Make and bring Sacrament bread for 6 weeks (must let Priesthood leaders know)

Plan and cook 10 meals for your family

Sew 5 pillows to give as gifts

Train for and participate in a 5K walk or run

Read any book of scripture in 60 days (Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, Old or New Testament)

One of our girls worked with the local police department and set up a booth for parents to fill out all information on their child(ren) in case they went missing.

Individual Worth Project Ideas


Individual Worth
Mentor a child through a community volunteer organization, making a conscious effort to build his or her self-worth.

Organize and throw a surprise party for a friend or relative. Plan to have their favorite guests, food, and activities at the party.

Write a personal history, documenting childhood memories up to the present time.
Learn sign language for some songs and sing and sign them in Sacrament Mtg

Write a personal history for your Mother, Father, and Grandparents to present as a gift

Divine Nature Value Project Ideas


Collect recipes, organize them, and have them printed in a bound family or ward cookbook. 

Decoupage a collage of pictures from pass-along cards and church magazines onto a wide-bordered frame. Display it with a copy of the Proclamation on the Family inside.

Organize, practice, and present a special musical number (alone or with others) in sacrament meeting.

Write a YW Sacrament Meeting Program (need permission from the bishop)

Temple work!! Find names and go to the temple to be baptized for them
